Geoff & Susanne started Dolphinwatch Carrigaholt in 1992 and love turning people on to the amazing Mouth of the Shannon with its resident group of bottlenose dolphins, thousands of nesting pelagic seabirds, seals, fascinating geology, cliffs and caves of the Loop Head Peninsula and North Kerry.  The business is their passion (luckily) and they feel so fortunate to have amazing family and crew who feel the same! Dolphinwatch holds a Gold Certificate from Ecotourism Ireland.

Dolphins & Nature Boat Trip
Our Dolphins & Nature Boat Trip is our main excursion: a guided dolphin watching boat trip to see Ireland’s resident group of bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat. Trips run everyday depending on sea conditions, weather & passenger demand during our season.

Special Interest Charters
An exciting excursion around Loop Head which is available through private charter. This is a rare opportunity to witness the magnificent world class geology at Loop Head and its massive, legendary sea-stack and to look for whales, bottlenose dolphins, common dolphins and ocean going sea birds like shearwaters, skuas and petrels.

Geology Field Trip Charter
The Loop Head Peninsula & the shore of North Kerry is a world-famous destination for geological field trips. Seeing the Ross Sandstones, the Gull Island Formation and the Clare Shales by sea is the best way to appreciate their full story.

Sunset Cruise
During the month of June, we offer Sunset Cruises at the Mouth of the Shannon. Imagine a beautiful mid-summer’s evening out on the water on a classy boat with great people touring magnificent cliffs and taking in the wildlife and beauty, while sipping a glass of wine & nibbling on delicious tapas.
